1.4 billion yuan transferred from Chinese employees in Indonesia to China

Jakarta, August 10th, easy-going Chinese companies invested in Indonesia, especially in terms of mineral resources. For example, Tsingshan invested in the construction of ferronickel smelting plants and stainless steel plants in Morrowali and Vidabe, and Delong invested in the construction of ferronickel in Kendari. Recently, Nanshan invested in an aluminum smelter in Bintan Island, and more and more Chinese employees are working in Indonesia.


The Public Relations Department of the Bank of Indonesia announced that as of the end of 2019, the number of Chinese employees in Indonesia was 98,902, and foreign workers in Indonesia accounted for the first place, equivalent to 36.17%. Second place is Japan with 12,823, third South Korea with 9,097, fourth India with 7,356, fifth Malaysia with 4,816, Philippines with 4,536, U.S. with 2,596, Australia with 2,540, and U.K. 2,176 people, 1,994 people in Singapore, and 15,187 people in other countries.


According to statistics, as of the end of 2019, Chinese employees working in Indonesia have transferred 14 yuan (approximately US$213 million) to China and US$348 million (approximately US$5 million) in the first quarter of 2020. In fact, the amount is less than Funds transferred by employees from other countries, such as the United States, Japan, or South Korea.
