Recently, Centaurus Metals announced its nickel resources for the Jaguar project in Brazil, most of which are located within 200m of the surface. The first resource that meets JORC requirements is 48 million tons with a nickel content of 1.08%, which includes 517,500 tons of nickel.
Darent Gordon, managing director of Centaurus, said that through systematic expansion and progressive drilling of the known Jaguar and Onca Preta deposits, “there is great resource potential” and these deposits are still being deep-drilled. He said that to date, our deepest hole extends to a depth of only 300m. In the case of nickel sulfide, this means that we only scratched the surface. The company also believes that the project has "huge" regional potential and plans to drill to test Onca Rosa's findings and other prospects.
Currently, solid drilling is already underway to upgrade most unexplored resources to a designated state. "We will now also begin to venture into and test new areas very actively to understand how quickly we can increase tonnage and make new discoveries in terms of strike and depth." Drilling in the second half of 2020 will focus on Jaguar South, Jaguar Central, Jaguar North, Jaguar West and Jaguar Northeast and Onca Preta and Onca Rosa.
