Comparison of alkali corrosion resistance of magnesia alumina spinel corundum andalusite and other refractory materials

Chrome-free lining material of alkali recovery furnace refers to the replacement of magnesia-Chrome lining material with chrome-free lining refractory.

The magnesium-aluminum spinel brick has low sensitivity to the atmosphere in the furnace and good thermal shock stability and resistance to alkali, sulfur and chlorine.

The service life of magnesia alumina spinel brick in cement rotary kiln is 2~3 times longer than that of ordinary magnesia chrome brick.

Corundum has high thermodynamic strength, good thermal shock resistance and good chemical stability.

Jiang Yongqi studied the slag corrosion resistance of ladle made of different materials and found that slag erosion and penetration of white corundum are the least, brown corundum is the second, and super alumina clinker is the worst.

The research results of andalusite brick used in lead-zinc airtight blast furnace show that andalusite brick has good thermal shock resistance and high temperature strength.

In order to provide guidance for the research and development of refractory materials with strong alkali corrosion resistance, alkali corrosion resistance tests were carried out on magnesite-alumina spinel, corundum and andalusite.


1. Sample preparation and test method


The test materials are: aluminum-magnesium-aluminum spinel (AR90), aluminum-magnesium-aluminum spinel (AR78), white corundum, plate corundum and andalusite, with particle size d≤0.088mm.

The CA2/MA complex material was prepared by experimental precombination with particle size D ≤0.088mm.

Alkali salt is composed of KCl, K2CO3 and K2SO, with a mass ratio of 1:1:1. The purity of KCl is 99.5%, and that of K2CO3 and K2SO is 99.0%.

The standard of alkali resistance is line change rate of -2%~2%.

The mixture of all raw materials and alkali salt according to the ratio of 7:3 (mass ratio), in the planetary ball mill dry mixing and grinding for 1h(258R ·min), in the hydraulic press with 100MPa pressure pressed into 50mm×10mm sample, after drying for 24h at 110℃, at 1300℃ for 5h standby.

According to GB/T5988-2007, the permanent line change (Lc) of the sample heating was measured, and the thermodynamics analysis was carried out. The phase analysis and microstructure analysis of the sample were carried out by X-ray diffraction (X 'PertPro, Philips) and scanning electron microscopy (Philips, XL-30-TMP), respectively.
