During the powder material filling process of the ton bag packaging machine , dust flying has always been a common problem plaguing the workshop. The high concentration of dust not only pollutes the working environment and affects the occupational health of the operators, but also may cause equipment to accumulate dust, electrical short circuits and even pose safety hazards.


To solve this problem, merely relying on post-event cleaning is often ineffective as it only addresses the symptoms rather than the root cause. Systematic optimization at the process level and equipment improvement is necessary. Here are four practical improvement directions:
1. Optimize the feeding method and fluidization process (source reduction)
The generation of dust usually results from the gas entrainment during the falling process of the materials and the excessive speed of the flow.
• Adjust the feeding angle and speed: The traditional vertical free feeding method is prone to generating turbulence and dust. It is recommended to adjust the height and angle of the feeding mechanism so that the materials slide slowly along the inner wall of the ton bag, changing from a "direct impact" to a "smooth descent", thereby reducing air turbulence. At the same time, control the rotation speed of the feeding screw or belt to prevent the instantaneous flow rate from being too high and breaking the bag seal.
• Installation of fluidization devices: For powders that are difficult to be bridged and have poor permeability, installing a fluidization air cushion or agitator plate at the conical part of the silo is an extremely effective method. By introducing a small amount of clean compressed air, the bottom material can be made to present a fluid-like state and uniformly sink, eliminating dead corners and pressure resistance, and significantly reducing the backflow air current caused by material compression.
II. Improve the bag opening sealing and exhaust design (process interruption)
The ton bags themselves have good air permeability. If the filling opening is not sealed tightly and the internal air pressure cannot be released in time, dust will spurt out through the gaps.
• Use soft connection sealing: There should be no hard contact between the filling head and the mouth of the ton bag. Design an armoring mechanism with an inflatable sealing ring. During filling, inflate the sealing ring to press the bag mouth tightly; or use highly elastic corrugated tubes or PU soft curtains as soft connections, which not only ensure the smooth feeding but also form an effective physical barrier.
• Implement orderly exhaust: The exhaust process of filling the ton bags with an equal amount of air requires scientific management. Special exhaust ports should be reserved on the top or side of the ton bags and filter cloth covers or dust collection hoods should be installed. The compressed air carrying a small amount of dust should be discharged through the filtering device instead of simply forcing the dust to overflow from the main feed inlet.
III. Introduction of negative pressure ventilation dust removal system (environmental purification)
Even with the implementation of the aforementioned measures, a very small amount of dust will still escape into the workshop environment. At this point, external force is required for collection.
• Fixed collection: A large suction hood (collecting hood) is set above or on the side of the filling station. The suction force of the fan is utilized to create a local negative pressure area, quickly drawing the freshly generated dust into the dust removal pipeline.
• Complementary purification equipment: The inhaled air must be treated by dust removal equipment. Depending on the nature of the dust, either a pulse bag filter or a cyclone separator can be selected. Ensure that the exhaust gas discharged outside the workshop meets the requirements of environmental protection and occupational health standards.
IV. Equipment Upgrades and Auxiliary Measures (Integrated Management)
• Select advanced models: Give priority to packaging machines equipped with the "quantitative dual-speed filling" function. That is, at the initial stage, the feeding is carried out at a speed close to the target value, and then switches to a very slow and precise feeding mode in the later stage. This combination of fast and slow feeding rhythms can effectively reduce the impact of dust during the later stage.
• Maintain equipment airtightness: Regularly inspect the bag clamping mechanism of the packaging machine and the interface of the conveyor belt for any wear or looseness. Timely maintenance and repair to seal every air leakage gap is the long-term guarantee for maintaining a low dust environment.
