Only 15 mining companies operate in North Maluku, Indonesia, and the remaining 88 IUP-licensed companies have not yet operated

Recently, according to local media reports in Indonesia, the potential of mineral resources in North Maluku is still relatively promising, especially nickel and gold mines.

The North Maluku Provincial Government has issued mining business licenses (IUP) to 103 companies, but so far, only 15 companies are operating and the remaining 88 IUP holders have not yet operated.

Hasyim Daeng Barang, head of North Maluku Mining and ESDM Office, said that of the 15 mining companies in operation, 5 are foreign investment companies (PMA).

The validity period of IUP holders is usually 15-25 years, but 88 IUP holders who have not operated for less than 15 years are actually still valid.
