The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi plans to collect more taxes from mining and smelting companies

Kendari On September 18, Ali Mazi, the governor of Southeast Sulawesi Province, said in a speech at the provincial capital that the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government plans to levy changes to mining and smelting enterprises in Southeast Sulawesi Province. More taxes, hoping to increase provincial income. The governor believes that at present, mining and smelting enterprises have not made the greatest contribution to the people in the provinces and communities.

At present, mining and smelting companies pay resource tax directly to the central government. After the central government collects 20%, the remaining resource tax is distributed to the provincial government and 64% of the county government. After the county government receives 64% of the resource tax, it will allocate 32% to the town where the project is located and 32% to the surrounding towns.

The provincial government plans to build infrastructure, and the development of the province requires a lot of funds. The current resource tax share received by the provincial government is not enough. Therefore, the provincial government plans to collect other taxes from mining and metallurgical enterprises to increase provincial income.

The governor added that the resource tax share of Southeast Sulawesi in 2019 was only 76 million yuan, which is too small. Therefore, the provincial government plans to collect vehicle fuel tax, heavy equipment tax, Taxes such as water tax.
