WBMS: Global nickel market oversupply from January to May 2020

London, July 22 news, the World Metal Statistics Bureau (WBMS) released a report on Wednesday showing that the global nickel market will be oversupplied from January to May 2020, and the output will be 33,300 tons higher than apparent demand. From January to May, the global refined nickel production totaled 890,600 tons, and the demand was 857,300 tons. From January to May, the global apparent demand decreased by 92,900 tons compared with the same period last year. In May, global smelters/refiners produced 179 thousand tons of nickel, and demand was 165,800 tons. For the whole year of 2019, the global nickel market has a shortage of 29,100 tons.
