Bulk bag (ton bag) packaging is a commonly used packaging form in industries such as chemicals, building materials, grains, and minerals. Due to the significant differences in the physical and chemical properties of the materials, the packaging machine must be adjusted specifically according to the characteristics of different materials to ensure packaging efficiency, accuracy, and safety. The following are the key points to note when using a bulk bag packaging machine.
I. Classification of Material Characteristics and Corresponding Packaging Tips
Materials with good liquidity
Such as grains, plastic particles, and some chemical raw materials, etc.
• Key Points:
Feed control: Usually, gravity flow or spiral feeding is adopted. The flow rate can be controlled by adjusting the discharge valve to prevent excessive packaging impact and unstable weighing due to too fast flow rate.
• Dust control: Materials with high fluidity are prone to generating dust. Therefore, dust collection interfaces need to be equipped, or an all-enclosed feeding method should be adopted to reduce dust emission.
• Packaging accuracy: When the material has good fluidity, a "fast-slow" two-stage feeding method can be adopted. First, fill it quickly to about 90%, then slow down for precise weighing to ensure the accuracy within ±0.2%.
2. Powder or fine-grained materials with poor fluidity
Such as cement, fly ash, ultra-fine calcium carbonate, etc.
• Key Points:
• Anti-bridge design: The silo must be equipped with a vibrator or a fluidization device to prevent the formation of "bridges" of materials at the outlet, which could interfere with the material discharge.
• Ventilation and compaction: During packaging, it is necessary to ensure that the air inside the bag is expelled. If necessary, additional tapping or vibration procedures can be carried out after filling to help the material become denser and increase the filling rate.
• Dust-proof sealing: This type of material generates significant dust. The packaging machine should have excellent sealing performance and be connected to a dust removal system to prevent environmental pollution and material loss.
3. Materials that are prone to moisture absorption or oxidation
Such as certain food additives, chemical intermediates, metal powders, etc.
• Key Points:
• Environmental control: The operation should be carried out in an environment with controllable relative humidity or oxygen concentration, or using methods such as nitrogen-filled packaging to isolate the air.
• Packaging speed: Shorten the exposure time of materials. An integrated design of automatic rapid bagging, filling and sealing can be adopted.
• Inner bag protection: The container bags are usually lined with moisture-proof or aluminum foil inner bags. During packaging, it is necessary to ensure that the inner bags are intact and the seals are tight.
4. Materials that are corrosive or abrasive
Such as fertilizers, mineral particles, and some industrial salts, etc.
• Key Points:
• Equipment material: The parts of the packaging machine that come into contact with the materials should be made of stainless steel, wear-resistant steel plates, or lined with ceramic/plastic coatings to prevent corrosion and wear.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: After the operation, promptly clean the surface and crevices of the equipment to prevent the residue of materials from corroding the equipment.
• Bag protection: Select durable and corrosion-resistant container bags, and check during the packaging process to ensure that no sharp materials puncture the bag.
5. Hazardous Materials
Such as flammable, explosive or toxic chemical products.
• Key Points:
• Explosion-proof design: The packaging machine must be equipped with explosion-proof motors, anti-static devices, and ensure proper grounding to prevent static electricity sparks.
• Leakage prevention: Equipped with leak-proof trays and leakage detection devices. In case of leakage, it can automatically shut down and give an alarm.
• Safe operation: Workers must be equipped with protective gear. There should be ventilation and fire-fighting facilities on site, and strict adherence to the packaging standards for hazardous materials must be observed.
II. General Operating Precautions
Equipment debugging and calibration

Before replacing the materials, the weighing sensor must be recalibrated and the discharging parameters adjusted according to the density of the materials.
Check whether the bag clamping device is compatible with the container bag sling to prevent bag detachment during the packaging process.
2. Monitoring of the packaging process
Check whether the material is being fed evenly, and look for any blockages or splashing phenomena.
Monitor the stability of the weighing data and make timely adjustments when abnormal fluctuations occur.
3. Packaging integrity inspection
After filling, check whether the bag opening is flat and whether the stitches or ties are secure.
For packages with inner pockets, ensure that the inner pockets fit tightly and perfectly to the outer bags, without any distortion or folding.
4. Cleaning and Material Switching
When switching between different materials, thoroughly clean the interior of the equipment and the conveying system to prevent cross-contamination.
Regularly clean the dust filter and keep the negative pressure system functioning properly.
The efficiency and safety of bag-in-box packaging are inseparable from a deep understanding of the material properties and precise adjustment of equipment. Operators should, based on their familiarity with the performance of the packaging machine and in combination with the specific nature of the materials, formulate corresponding operating procedures and continuously optimize them during daily use. Through scientific and standardized packaging operations, not only can the packaging quality and efficiency be improved, but also the equipment lifespan can be extended, safety risks can be reduced, and material losses can be minimized.
The functions and structures of packaging machines produced by different manufacturers may vary. For specific operations, please refer to the equipment manual and technical training. Before packaging special materials, it is recommended to conduct small-scale tests to determine the appropriate parameters.
