A large nickel deposit has been discovered on Gebe Island in Indonesia's North Maluku province, according to a survey report submitted by the Third Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources in Henan Province, the provincial Geological Bureau learned on November 25.

The reserves of nickel ore resources discovered this time are more than 100,000 tons. According to the scale of domestic mineral resources reserves, it is a large deposit.
At the beginning of 2020, the Third Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources Survey set up a project team to carry out exploration work in the Indonesian work area. Meanwhile, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in Indonesia, the project team members were evacuated back to China. In December 2020, the project team resumed the exploration work, completed the mining work on time, and successfully passed the field acceptance organized by Party A.
