London, January 7th (Argus) - Despite an industrial fire occurring in the power rectifiers that supply its production facilities in December, aluminium smelter Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) still achieved a record high aluminium output in 2025, slightly higher than the record set last year. Alba produced 162.3 million tonnes of aluminium last year, a mere 0.05% increase compared to 2024. The company achieved zero work-related injury losses for the second consecutive year, marking the first time it has achieved zero work-related injury losses for two consecutive years. Work-related injury losses refer to situations where employees are unable to perform their duties due to work. Alba stated that on December 19th, a fire occurred at the production facility, but it did not cause any transportation disruptions and the operation was not affected. However, a European trader said that the output of approximately 500,000 tonnes from one of the production lines was affected. Like other aluminium smelters in the region, Alba Aluminium has recently shifted its focus from further increasing capacity to improving or replacing existing production lines. The company stated: "Looking ahead, Alba will continue to strengthen its operational capabilities through internal initiatives to drive continuous improvements in production capacity and efficiency."
