Merdeka Copper, a joint venture in Aoyama, is set to improve its performance this year. Adi Adriansyah Sjoekri, the company's secretary to the board, said the company will raise Copper production to 17,000 tonnes by the end of December 2020 after developing new mining areas.
Copper production in 2020 was 5,377 tons.
MDKA is maintaining the existing copper-gold heap-leaching pad (HLP) at the copper and gold mine, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of June this year and will increase production.
At the same time, the MDKA copper smelting plant in the Morowali Park in Castle Peak, Indonesia, is still under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022 to produce copper, gold, iron and sulfuric acid.
MDKA has also continued its exploration work with a new development in the Qiqiu mining area, which is provisionally assessed to contain 8.7 tonnes of copper and 28 ounces of gold.
MDKA plans to produce 120,000 ounces of gold in 2021.
The Secretary-General added that MDKA2020's full-year revenue was US $320 million, 20.14 per cent lower than that of 2019, which was US $4.02 billion. As a result, the distribution of profits to shareholders in 2020 was US $36 million, 48.5 per cent lower than that of 2019, and the distribution of profits to shareholders in 2019 was US $70 million.
