BHP Nickel West assets president Eduard Haegel said Aug. 3 that its Nickel sulphate plant in Australia is nearing completion and is currently undergoing commissioning. The pilot plant has been operating in a dedicated facility for nine weeks and can produce up to 100 kilograms of Nickel sulphate metal per day, with a planned annual capacity of 100,000 physical tons. High-quality nickel sulphate samples will then be provided to electric vehicle battery manufacturing customers in Asia, with the first batch scheduled to be delivered to customers in September 2021 for product testing.
