According to media reports, the technical transformation project of Kamoa project is ahead of schedule, and the final stage of installation work is being carried out. It is planned to conduct joint trial in April 2023, to accelerate the realization of the comprehensive design capacity of the first and second phase of the plant to increase to 9.2 million tons/year, and the copper capacity to about 450,000 tons/year. With increasing production capacity, the project team estimates a target of 390,000 to 430,000 tonnes of copper-bearing concentrate from Kamoa-Kakura in 2023.

Kamoa-kakura copper mine is becoming the biggest guarantee for China's copper consumption!

China's copper resources are relatively poor, accounting for about 3% of the global total, and the resource endowment conditions are poor. However, China is the world's largest copper consumer. The huge capacity of China's copper refining industry brings huge demand for copper concentrate, and the external dependence of copper concentrate is increasing year by year.
