Through a contract agreement signed by the chairmen of both parties, PT. Ceria Nugraha Indotama commissioned PT. Wijaya Karya to be the EPC contractor for the construction of the Ni-Fe RKEF smelter in Kolaka District, Sulawisi Province, southeast Of Indonesia.
Vijaya plans to open the plant in 36 months.
CNI chairman said in an interview that the company's total investment is 360 million US dollars to build two RKEF production lines (2 x 72 MW).
The annual output of the smelter is 27,800 tons of pure nickel per year, with 22% iron and nickel content.
In the contract, both parties agree that the first phase of the project can be continued after the commissioning of the second phase of the project is the red clay mine wet process plant with a total investment of 1.1 billion US dollars.
The wet-process plant has an annual output of 100,000 tons of nickel hydroxide (Ni 40%, Co 4%) and processes 3.6 million dry tons of low-grade laterite nickel ore per year.
The wet plant project includes a thermal power plant, a limestone plant with an annual output of 36m tons, a sulfuric acid plant with an annual output of 550,000 tons, and a tailings plant with an annual output of 970,000 tons.
CNI chairman said that Vejaya company is a state-owned construction contractor in Indonesia, and has the performance of building metallurgical plants in Indonesia, namely The Belmara Nickel-iron RKEF project of Anda Purpose and the Sicar Aluminum smelter project of Indonesia.
