On November 20, 2023, Minmetals Resources Limited (MMG) issued an announcement, Its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, MMG Africa Ventures Inc, will acquire the entire issued share CAPITAL agreement of CUPROUS CAPITAL LTD, the parent company of the Khoemacau copper mine in Botswana, for a value of US $1.875 billion, or approximately RMB 13.3 billion.
Khoemacau is located in northwest Botswana, Africa, part of the emerging Kalahari copper belt, which stretches 1,000 kilometers from northeastern Botswana to western Namibia and is one of the world's most important newly discovered but largely unexplored copper-silver metallogenic belts.
According to reports, Khoemacau mine 4040 square kilometers of mineral rights, mineral resources include 6.4 million tons of copper metal and 6.3 billion ounces of silver metal, according to the total amount of copper metal, Khoemacau mine is the tenth largest copper in Africa, one of the world's largest copper deposition systems outside the Central African copper belt.
