Glencore's Raglan Copper-nickel Mine Is Gradually Resuming Production

On June 17, 2022, Glencore's Raglan nickel and copper mine in Quebec, Canada, will begin a gradual resumption of some production.

The company suspended Raglan production in late May after 630 union workers went on strike. Authorized personnel will gradually return to the site to perform tasks related to infrastructure maintenance, such as roads, water management systems and heating, as well as increasing surface ore reserves.

Glencore said the plant was not currently operational and the level of mining activity at the site would remain well below normal levels. Until the new collective agreement is approved, Glencore's integrated nickel business will use supplies of alternative concentrates to keep its nickel processing operations at its Sudbury smelter running at full capacity.
