Indonesia's IFSH (PT. Ifishdeco) will sell 829,000 tonnes of wet nickel ore in the first half of 2021. IFSH's operations director Muhammad Ishaq said production was somewhat lower due to heavy rainfall in May and June, which affected mining operations.
The director of operations said the company would increase production in the second half of the year, as rains began to slow in August, so IFSH believes it can meet its full-year mining target of two million wet tonnes of nickel ore.
According to the director of operations, due to the increasing demand of nickel and iron smelters in Indonesia, the Indonesian Nickel Smelters Association forecasts that the smelters in Indonesia will absorb 712 million wet tons of nickel ore in 2021. Although the Indonesian government bans the export of raw nickel ore, the company's performance will not be affected, so the company's prospects are very good.
In order to expand its operations, IFSH will acquire the nickel mines surrounding the existing mines and is currently in negotiations with the mine owners. In addition, the company will undertake further exploration work, increase mining equipment and personnel, and expand mining facilities.
