Jakarta, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's economy grew 7.07 percent in the second quarter of 2021, meeting President Jokowi's target, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said in a video interview.

Indonesia's finance minister explained that one of the reasons for Indonesia's growth was the global economic recovery. Indonesia's major trading partners, China, maintained growth of 7.9 percent, Singapore 14.3 percent and the United States 12.2 percent.

Economic recovery in its trading partners boosted Indonesia's exports by 55.89%, mainly in mining, metal processing, and agricultural commodities. Meanwhile, Indonesia's imports increased by 50.21% in the second quarter of 2021, mainly from production equipment, raw materials and consumables.

The finance minister said that Indonesia's economic growth could be said to be driven by industry. In addition, during the outbreak, the central government of Indonesia made economic stimulus policies and increased government spending, which means the purchase of goods rose 82.10%, the purchase of civil servants' consumer goods rose 19.79% and the purchase of manufactured goods rose 45.56%.

Industrial development and government spending stimulus increased household consumption by 5.93%. In addition, the Finance minister spoke of growth in five major sectors in the second quarter of 2021: processing by 6.58%, mining by 5.52%, trade by 9.44%, construction by 4.42% and agriculture by 0.38%.
