In recent years, a series of gold mines have been discovered in Cote d 'Ivoire. The Doropo gold mine is the third large gold mine found in Cote d 'Ivoire within just two years. These three gold mines are distributed in the northern and northeastern parts of Cote d 'Ivoire, forming a "golden triangle", which has enabled this West African country to leap into a new gold-producing power in Africa.

In early 2024, the country successively announced the exploration results of the Kone Gold mine and the Tanda Gold Mine. The reserves of the two mines reached 155.5 tons and 150 tons respectively. The total reserves of these three gold mines are expected to exceed 400 tons. According to the current development progress, the annual gold output is expected to exceed 100 tons within the next five years. This will bring Ivory Coast's gold output close to that of Ghana, a traditional gold-producing country in Africa.

At present, Ivory Coast's gold export volume has become the third largest export commodity after cocoa and oil.
