1. China's iron ore imports hit record high in 2020
According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs, China imported 1.17 billion tons of iron ore in 2020, up 9.5% year on year.
The corresponding amount was 822.87 billion yuan (about 118.944 billion U.S. dollars), up 17.4 percent year on year.
Both hit record highs.
2. WGC: Global gold ETF holdings increased by 876 tons in 2020
Global ETF holdings rose by 877 tonnes in 2020, equivalent to about a quarter of the world's annual production of gold mines, the World Gold Council (WGC) said yesterday. The figure far surpassed the previous record of 646 tonnes set in 2009.
But ETF holdings fell in the last two months of 2020, dropping 109 tons in November and 40 tons in December.
