Norilsk: Due To The Impact Of Mine Maintenance Nickel Production in The Second Quarter Of The Same Quarter Decline

Norilsk announces production report for the second quarter of 2021. Nickel production in the second quarter decreased by 30% quarter-on-quarter to 33,000 tons due to the shutdown and repair work at the Oktyabrsky and Taimyrsky mineral processing plants. First-half output fell 26 per cent year-on-year to 79,000 tonnes. Taimyrsky mine has regained 80% of capacity since resuming production in early June and is expected to be fully restored by the end of November.




Russian Business (Kola MMC) :




Kola MMC produced 23,874 tonnes of nickel in the second quarter, down 27 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 24 per cent year-on-year.




Finnish operations (Harjavalta) :




Harjavalta produced 8,770 tonnes of nickel in the second quarter, down 37 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 32 per cent year-on-year.




South Africa Operations (Nkomati) :




Maintenance of the mine prior to the final submission of the mine closure plan.




Nickel production guidance for 2021 was maintained at 190-200,000 tons and forecasts were revised down by 15-20% from the company's previous full-year target of 220-230,000 tons.
