On September 24, Shanghai Baoye signed a contract for the second phase of Indonesia's OBI nickel-iron project RKEF.
Indonesia OBI nickel-iron Project RKEF Phase II (Bid Section 1 and 3) is another project undertaken by Shanghai Baoye in countries along the "Belt and Road". The project is located in the west of OBI Island (OBI), North Maluku Province, Indonesia, and belongs to the KAWASI Village mining area, OBI Town, South Hamahera County, North Maluku Province, Indonesia. Ningbo Liken Resources Technology Co., Ltd. and Indonesia Halida Mining Co., Ltd. will cooperate to jointly develop laterite nickel ore resources on OBI Island, Indonesia. The proposed RKEF process smelter on Obi Island, Indonesia, will process 11,450,500 tons of dry laterite nickel ore annually and produce 1,701,800 tons of nickel-iron containing 11% nickel.
The construction content includes 8 66MVA electric furnace production lines, Fuel coal transportation belt corridor, soil ore yard and crushing, laterite ore transportation belt corridor, laterite ore heap tent, dry feeding belt corridor and main workshop of drying, dry flue gas purification system, feeding belt corridor, batching plant, roasting reduction feeding belt corridor, roasting and the owner, electric furnace smelting factory, comprehensive circulating water pump room, electric furnace slag circulating water pump house, ingot casting machine circulating water system , smelter comprehensive pipe network, 10KV distribution station, fuel and coal homogenization depot, coal to gas feeding belt corridor, coal to gas workshop, reducing agent homogenization depot, 35KV substation, etc.
This project is the second collaboration between Shanghai Baoye and Liqin after the first bid section of Indonesia OBI Island nickel-Cobalt Project and the first bid section of Indonesia OBI nickel-iron Project. It is the achievement of Shanghai Baoye's solid practice of the "offshore" strategy and firm implementation of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, demonstrating the brand and strength of the National Team of metallurgical construction. It has laid a solid foundation for MCC to deeply cultivate the Indonesian market.
