Finland's Terrafame Mining has released its nickel production report for the second quarter of 2021. Nickel production in the second quarter was 6,778 tonnes, down 4.5 per cent from a year earlier, with annual maintenance work in May leading to lower production. Nickel production in the first half of 2021 was 14,064 tonnes, down 9% year-on-year.
Global ev sales in January-May 2021 are estimated at about 2 million units, with an estimated 4.9 million units in 2021. The company's battery factory opened in June and delivered its first nickel sulfate in July.
The market share of NCM 811 cells increased to 12% in January-May 2021 from 7% in the same period in 2020. About 30% for NCM 622, compared with 39% for the same period in 2020. The NCM 712 battery has a market share of 7% in May 2021.
