PT Vale Indonesia, an Indonesian nickel miner, said on Wednesday that construction of the Pomalaa project in southeastern Sulawesi province is expected to start in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2026. The Pomalaa plant is expected to produce 40,000 tons of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP).

Speaking at a media conference, Vale deputy CEO Adriansyah Chaniago said it was currently adjusting its environmental impact study for the project and hoped to get the necessary permits to start construction next year.

Febriany Eddy, Vale's chief executive, added that the company was also studying the prospect of developing limonite.
