Foreign media, April 20 news, the World Metals Statistics Bureau (WBMS) on Wednesday released the latest report data showed that the global nickel market in January-February 2022 supply shortage demand exceeded production 17,400 tons. For all of 2021, the global nickel market was short by 146,900 tonnes.
At the end of February 2022, LME warehouse reported inventories (including non-warehouse inventory) were 22,000 tonnes lower than at the end of 2021.
In January-February 2022, global refined nickel crystal production totaled 447,600 tons. The demand is 464,900 tons.
Global mine nickel production in January-February 2022 was 425,900 tons, up 48,000 tons from the same period in 2021.
Over the same period, Chinese smelter/refinery production increased by 12,000 tonnes from the first two months of 2021, while apparent demand was 248,200 tonnes, up 42,000 tonnes year-on-year.
In January-February 2022, Indonesia's smelter/refinery nickel production was 160,600 mt, up 21.6% from the same period in 2021. Demand rose 15.7 per cent to 64,200 tonnes.
Global apparent demand in January-February 2022 increased by 63,000 tonnes year-on-year.
Nickel smelter/refinery production in February was 226,600 tons, while demand was 223,600 tons.
