HOUSTON, February 11th (Argus) - Albemarle, an American specialty chemicals producer, announced today that it will immediately shut down its Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant in Western Australia to enhance its financial flexibility.Albemarle expects sales to remain stable in 2026 and plans to reduce the coverage ratio of long-term agreements to 40%, lower than 50% in 2025.
The company's net loss narrowed to 465 million US dollars in 2025, a significant improvement from 1.1 billion US dollars in 2024.
