In addition to acquiring part of its mining project equity, zijin Also signed a cooperation plan on the cooperative development of PE12453 and PE13427 mining rights around the company's Manono lithium mine, holding 70% of the shares of Katamba Mining. Zijin Mining disclosed that the pegmatite of Manono lithium mine extends more than 13 kilometers in lithium mineralization direction, with a thickness of 20-230m and a resource reserve of 8.78 million tons of lithium oxide.
Zijin said the move was aimed at enhancing its "competitiveness in new energy minerals".
Zijin has made a new investment in a smelter at the Kamoa-Kakula copper project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which it developed with Canada's Ivanhoe Mines, to reduce its reliance on third-party smelters.
