The global zinc market was oversupplied by 589,000 tons from January to December 2020, and was in short supply by 76,000 tons for the whole year of 2019.
A 151,000 ton increase in stocks was reported for the January-December period, including a net increase of 48 thousand tons in stocks in Shanghai.
LME stocks for January-December rose to 151,000 tons above end-December 2019 levels.
LME zinc stocks account for 24 per cent of the world's total, with most held in warehouses in Asia and the US.
Global refined zinc production was up 0.8% year on year, while demand was down 4.1% from a year ago.
Japan's apparent demand was 367,700 tons, down 29 percent from 2019.
Global demand for refined zinc fell by 557,000 tonnes from 2019.
China's apparent demand was 6.758 million tons, accounting for 51 percent of the global total.
In December 2020, the global production of zinc plate is 1.23,600 tons, and the demand is 1.27,800 tons.
