With the development of the global economy, the demand for high-performance steel is increasing, which also promotes the increase in demand for nickel resources required by high-performance steel. As one of the main producers of refined nickel, my country's output in 2009 increased to 246,700 tons, ranking first in the world, accounting for approximately 18.7% of the global output that year. The output of nickel in my country's mines is very scarce compared with major producers such as Russia, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, and New Caledonia. Therefore, on the whole, China's nickel consumption is greater than its output, and it needs to be imported.
Consider providing the 260,000-tonne nickel alloy project invested and constructed by Guangdong Guangqing Metal Technology Co., Ltd. in the Yangjiang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone’s port industrial park with the function of unloading imported laterite nickel ore to meet its annual output of 260,000 tons of nickel alloys. At the same time, it also meets the needs of other nickel alloy projects in the high-tech zone for laterite nickel mines. Yangjiang Guangqing Wharf Co., Ltd. proposed the construction of the #16 general berth wharf in Jishu Operation Area, Hailingwan Port, Yangjiang Port. Engineering project. The project plans to build a 100,000-ton general-purpose berth to load and unload imported laterite nickel ore, coal, iron ore and other raw materials, while taking into account the export of some nickel alloy finished products. The planned annual throughput is 3.1 million tons of laterite nickel ore. , 500,000 tons of coal, 300,000 tons of iron ore, 500,000 tons of nickel alloy finished products, supporting necessary production and auxiliary facilities.
At present, the project has carried out environmental impact assessment and public participation for the first time.
