Pueblo Viejo gold mine is 100 kilometers away from Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, and is one of the largest gold mines in the world. The Pueblo Viejo gold mine is jointly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation (60%) and Canadian Gold Corporation (Goldcorp Inc.) (40%). The mine's production started in 2012 and has achieved full production in 2014. The Pueblo Viejo gold mine produced approximately 983,000 ounces of gold in 2019, and the mine is expected to produce 925,000 ounces of gold in 2020.
