Chile Ranks First in Global Exports Of Lithium Carbonate And Copper.

SANTO PAULO, June 3rd (Argus) - Despite Argentina's rapid growth in market share, Chile still maintains the global lead in lithium carbonate exports.
According to a report released by the country's Foreign Trade Office Subrei on June 1st, Chile supplied 62.2% of the global lithium carbonate export volume. Based on customs data and Subrei's data, the export volume reached nearly 225,750 tons in 2025, worth $1.9 billion.
Chile has long dominated the trade of lithium carbonate, but its market share dropped from 78% in 2024 to 62.2% in 2025. This is due to Argentina's rapid expansion of production capacity. The 15.8% decline highlights the increasingly fierce competition in the region.
According to Argus' calculation based on customs data, Argentina is the second-largest exporter, exporting 102,842 tons of products to overseas consumers in 2025, accounting for approximately 28% to 30% of the global total export volume. Copper
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Chilean National Copper Commission (Cochilco), Chile will remain the largest copper exporter in 2025, a position that has remained unchanged since at least 1983.
The producers in Chile, led by the state-owned mining company Codelco, exported a total of 5.7 million tons of copper, accounting for 16.2% of the global copper export volume. This figure (excluding approximately 10,000 tons of copper wire exports) generated $53.6 billion in revenue.
Peru ranks second, but its trading volume and market share are not yet clear.
