The Euronickel Water-quenched nickel production plant is one of the largest industrial facilities in North Macedonia and is the largest individual consumer of electricity in the country, with electricity accounting for the largest proportion of production costs.
Electricity prices started to spike in October 2021 due to the energy crisis in North Macedonia, the plant started to stop production in July 2022, and the necessary production line maintenance activities continue. By the end of September 2022, the factory announced that it was shutting down production lines due to high costs and putting employees on paid leave.
The Euronickel water-quenched nickel production plant in North Macedonia, with a nickel content of 20%-25% and an annual output of 0.7-10,000 tons of nickel, accounting for 2.5% of the world's water-quenched nickel; Formerly the FENI Industries plant owned by Cunico resources, it was acquired by GSOL in January 2019. The plant said it expects the government to successfully offer preferential electricity prices, or if the world Exchange tariff changes, it will resume production in the shortest time possible.
