Rio tinto and Antipa Minerals have agreed to invest A $13.8m in 2021 for the Citadel project, located in Paterson, western Australia.
The Stadler project includes the Calibre and Magnum deposits, which lie 45km east of the 503-million-tonne Winu copper-gold deposit.
Rio Tinto has said it will begin development of the Winu project as early as early 2021, apparently with Stadler as part of its future plans for the project.
The 2021 drilling program, managed by Rio Tinto, will focus on reverse circulation and Diamond drilling of 11,000 to 14,000 meters in the Magnum Dome area.
The area includes the Calibray, Magnam and Corker deposits, the Rimfire area, and a number of regional targets.
The drilling program aims to update the Cali mine resource base.
At present, the ore resource of this deposit is 47.7 million tons, with gold grade 0.9 g/ton and copper 0.15%.
The Calibray is 1,600 metres long along the strike and 480 metres behind, without penetration in any direction.
The mine has only 80 metres of overburden.
In November, Calibray drilled at a depth of 95.9 meters and found 146.7 meters with a gold grade of 1.36 g/ton and 0.08 percent copper.
