Four Chinese Mining Companies Were Robbed And Evacuated After Fighting Broke Out In Parts Of Central Africa

On 3 December 2020, the Constitutional Court of the Central African Republic ruled to disqualify former President Bozize as a presidential candidate.

Mr Boyne is unhappy about this and has courted some armed groups to fight the government.

Chinese citizens have been evacuated from YALOKE since December 15, when four private Chinese mining companies were robbed of eight cars and other property in a chaotic confrontation between Armed groups and government forces in the area.

On December 16, after receiving a report from a Chinese citizen, the Museum immediately made representations with the Chinese and African military police commanders, asking them to immediately carry out an investigation to protect the safety of local and Chinese citizens on the way out.

On December 17th, as tensions grew, most of the 250 or so Chinese citizens in the area withdrew to safety on their own.

We then contacted individual Chinese citizens stranded in the local area to evacuate as soon as possible, and contacted relevant protection forces for their evacuation.

In the early hours of December 18, armed groups exchanged fire with the CENTRAL African Defence Force, and the evacuation of the stranded people was blocked.

The Embassy made urgent representations with relevant parties, including the Ministry of National Defense, The Ministry of the Interior and the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central Africa, asking them to take immediate action to properly settle the stranded Chinese citizens, send forces to protect them and assist them to evacuate from the area.

The fighting subsided that day as UN peacekeepers intervened.

There were still sporadic exchanges of fire between the two sides on 19 December, but the situation was under control.

The stranded people have been evacuated safely.
