According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe, on July 5, Ambassador Zhou Ding and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa jointly attended the commissioning ceremony of the Acadia lithium mine project of Chinese-funded Huayou Cobalt and delivered a speech. Zimbabwe Vice President Chiwenga and mining minister, Minister of finance, Minister of industry and Commerce and other officials, as well as Huayou lithium project leaders, local employees and community representatives attended thousands of people.

Ambassador Zhou said that the mining cooperation between China and Zimbabwe enjoys good momentum and broad prospects. Chinese mining enterprises have made better use of Zimbabwe's mineral resources, made Zimbabwe an important part of the international new energy industry chain, and created a large number of jobs and tax revenues, making great contributions to Zimbabwe's development.
President Mnangagwa said that the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries has continuously achieved new results. The two countries will deepen mining cooperation, promote Zimbabwe's industrialization and promote the realization of Vision 2030.
The project has the world's largest single lithium concentrate production line, with a designed annual output of 500,000 tons of lithium concentrate.
