Kazakhstan Has Started Research On The Prospect Of Lithium Deposits, With Potential Reserves Comparable To Chile

The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction recently launched a study to assess the prospects of lithium deposits in three regions of the country. The move aims to explore the potential of Kazakhstan's lithium resources and further boost its mining industry.
According to Erlan Galiyev, head of the Kazakh State Geological Service, the exploration project will focus on the eastern and southeastern regions of the country. He predicted that these regions are expected to have primary lithium resources, which will have a significant impact on the global lithium market.
Galiyev also mentioned that mineralized brines in the Aral Basin also show good signs of the presence of lithium. The brine is similar to Chile's Salar de Atacama salt flats, which have a rich resource accounting for about 30 percent of the world's lithium reserves. This indicates that Kazakhstan's lithium reserves have the potential to rival those of Chile, the world's largest lithium producer.
In addition, Kazakhstan has so far identified six potential lithium sites. Galiyev further pointed out that there are large deposits of lithium and rare earth metals in the country's tailings piles and tailings sands, mainly in the central, southern and eastern regions of the country. This means that in addition to the primary lithium deposits, Kazakhstan has the potential to recover these valuable mineral resources from these tailings.
As the global demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy continues to increase, the demand for lithium is also growing rapidly. Lithium is a key raw material for battery manufacturing and is widely used in electronic products such as electric cars, mobile phones and laptops. Therefore, the exploration and development of lithium deposits has become the focus of geologists around the world.
The launch of the lithium deposit prospect study in Kazakhstan is not only of great significance for the country's mining development, but also has a positive impact on the global lithium market. By further understanding and developing its own lithium resources, Kazakhstan is expected to play a greater role in the global lithium supply chain and drive its own economic development.
