HOUSTON, January 13th (Argus) - Alta Resource Technologies, headquartered in Colorado, announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Korean metal producer Korea Zinc to recover rare earth elements.

Alta's CEO Nathan Ratledge said that the joint venture will focus on recovering rare earth elements from scrapped permanent magnets.
The project is planned to commence operations in 2027 with an initial capacity of 100 metric tons per year.
This collaboration combines Korea Zinc's metal processing and recycling with Alta's mineral separation technology to jointly carry out the business of recovering rare earths from waste magnets.
Korea Zinc announced last month that it plans to invest 7.4 billion US dollars in building a smelter in Tennessee. The smelter will produce 13 types of non-ferrous metal products.
A subsidiary of Korea Zinc, Pedal Point, has four facilities for processing electronic waste recycling in the United States.
