China's copper concentrate processing and refining costs (TC/RC) continued to rise in the week to July 23, 2021, as domestic smelters have already prepared enough copper concentrate to meet demand until the end of August and therefore have low purchasing appetite.
On Friday, TC/RC was $53.2 per ton and 5.32 cents per pound, up 2.9 percent from the previous week's $51.70 per ton and $5.17 per pound barrel.
Industry sources said easy supply and weak buying demand continued to boost TC/RC. Most smelters have ordered enough copper concentrate for July and August. Demand for deliveries after September fell on expectations of an increase in copper concentrate supply.
