Western Areas, a nickel mining company in Western Australia, reported fourth-quarter production of 4,200 metal tons at its Forrestania nickel mine, up 12% from the previous quarter, and 17,088 metal tons for the year, mainly due to increased nickel grade. Odysseus nickel concentrate produced 4,025 metal tons, up 5.8% from the previous month, and the annual output was 16,718 metal tons.
In December 2021 the Company entered into an acquisition agreement with IGO to acquire 100% interest in Western Areas Nickel Mining for A $1.096 billion. The transaction is expected to close in April 2022.
