Rio Tinto Group's 2022 Copper Production Growth

Rio Tinto reported Monday that it produced 521,000 tonnes of copper in 2022, up 6% from a year earlier, as higher grades from Kennecott and Escondida were partially offset by lower grades and recoveries from Oyu Tolgoi. Jacoby Stauholm, chief executive of Rio Tinto, said the acquisition of Turquoise Ridge strengthens the company's copper portfolio and demonstrates our ability to grow in the materials needed to transform the world's energy and deliver long-term shareholder value. The guide price for copper has risen accordingly. We will continue to invest in future growth, advancing the Rincon lithium project in Argentina and working with our partners to advance the Simandou project in Guinea.
