On June 2, Zijin Mining reached an agreement with the Kazakh Investment State Company on the development of non-ferrous and precious metal deposits in Kazakhstan.
The memorandum of cooperation was signed during the 13th Astana Mining & Metallurgy Conference held recently.
Que Zhaoyang, vice president of Zijin Mining, and Azamat Kozhenov, general manager of Kazakh Investment State-owned Company, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides.
The relevant person in charge of the Kazakh investment state-owned company said that Zijin Mining's experience, expertise and advanced technology can achieve efficient mineral mining and green sustainable development, and the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Zijin Mining has a great role in promoting the overall development of the mining industry.
The 13th Astana International Conference on Mining and Metallurgy held a plenary session on the theme "Sustainable Business development Model on the road to Decarbonization of Industry", attended by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Arihan Smyrov, who delivered the opening address. Mr. Zhao introduced Zijin Mining's efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency, water cycle, ESG construction and green mine construction to the participants.
During the meeting, the Zijin delegation also had in-depth exchanges with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the Minister Counsellor of China in Kazakhstan Su Yu, representatives of Chinese enterprises such as Jinxin Mining and Wanli Mining, as well as Aurora Minerals Group and Tao-Ken Samluk State-owned Mining Company, etc. And signed memorandums of understanding with some key enterprises in Kazakhstan.
It is reported that the Astana International Mining and Metallurgy Conference is the most important non-ferrous metal industry conference in Kazakhstan, is an important platform for the promotion of mining and metallurgy enterprises, and is also an exchange platform for government departments, important enterprises and industry associations.
