The automatic packaging equipment has unstable accuracy. Where should we prioritize checking?

When using automatic packaging equipment in many cases, a situation often occurs where the equipment operates normally but the packaged weight fluctuates unpredictably, sometimes being too heavy and sometimes too light, without any obvious pattern. This "inconsistent precision" problem is even more troublesome than complete downtime because it not only affects quality but is also difficult to determine the cause.

From practical experience, when encountering such a problem, one should not immediately suspect the equipment quality. Instead, one should systematically investigate several key points.

Firstly, it is recommended to prioritize checking the weighing system itself. The weighing sensor is the core of precision. If the weighing body is disturbed by external forces, such as contact with the frame, overly tight fasteners, or vibration sources around it, it will directly affect the stability of the data. Some sites, after cleaning or maintenance, do not restore to their original state, and this problem is also very likely to occur. Additionally, if the calibration is not done for a long time, the precision will drift, which is a common situation.

Next, check the material condition. Many people tend to overlook this point, but in fact, material changes are an important cause of precision fluctuations. For example, changes in moisture content, uneven particle size, and the formation of lumps in powder materials will all affect the continuity of the discharge. If there are sudden changes in discharge speed during the process, even the most precise weighing system cannot guarantee stable results.

Then, look at the feeding method and control logic. Normally, automatic packaging equipment is divided into two stages: "rapid feeding" and "fine replenishment". If the parameter settings are unreasonable, such as inaccurate switching points or excessive or insufficient replenishment time, overweight or underweight will occur. Some sites, in an attempt to increase speed, set the feeding speed very high, but the precision actually decreases. This situation is very typical.

The pneumatic system also deserves special attention. Unstable air pressure and sluggish cylinder movements will affect the timing of material switching, thereby influencing the final weight. Especially in workshops with large air consumption, if the air source fluctuates significantly, the precision problem is likely to recur.

Another point that is easily overlooked is the equipment's operating environment. For example, ground vibrations, large machinery operation around the equipment, or wind interference in the weighing area, all of these can affect the sensors and cause data fluctuations.

If the site needs to quickly determine the problem, one can follow a simple approach: first rule out whether the weighing system is disturbed, then confirm whether the materials are stable, then check the feeding parameters, and finally look at the air source and environment. Generally, following this sequence of checks, most problems can be identified.

From a long-term usage perspective, to keep the automatic packaging equipment with stable precision, it is not just about adjusting parameters once. The key is to establish a daily inspection habit, such as regular calibration, paying attention to material changes, and checking the stability of the air source. These details often determine the equipment's operating effect.
